DUANE LUDWIG to appear on STRIKE FORCE Pay Per View event
SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE!!

Denver, CO

8_lg.jpg (25514 bytes)

Denver, Colorado based fighter Duane BANG! Ludwig is currently offering sponsorship opportunities for his upcoming STRIKEFORCE PPV appearance.

Superpowers will go head to head when K-1 and UFC veteran and Strikeforce fan favorite, Duane "Bang" Ludwig, faces EliteXC's British Cage Rage champion, Paul "Semtex" Daley, in a 170-pound limit matchup during "Shamrock vs. Baroni," live on June 22, at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The mega-MMA fight card, being co-produced by EliteXC and Strikeforce, will be headlined by the long-awaited showdown between former UFC middleweight king, Frank Shamrock, and UFC and Pride veteran, "The New York Badass" Phil Baroni, plus five other explosive bouts airing live on pay-per-view.

"It will be a tough fight for sure," said the 28-year-old Ludwig of Denver, Colorado. "Both of us bring an action-packed fighting style to the cage so we match up in the crowd's favor. It will probably be the fight of the night."

With his crowd pleasing, toe-to-toe fighting style that stems largely from his background in Muay Thai, Ludwig, the reigning International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) World Junior Middleweight Muay Thai Champion, has given mixed martial arts fans some memorable moments, including his willful run to victory over Japan's Genki Sudo during UFC 42. On January 16th 2006, Ludwig returned to the octagon and stopped Jonathan Goulet in a mere 11 seconds with a hard right hand to the chin that put the Canadian on his back. During Strikeforce's last card at the HP Pavilion on December 8th, Ludwig delivered a near flawless performance as he hammered away relentlessly with his hands and feet at Tony "The Freak" Fryklund . A former member of Team Pat Miletich, Fryklund was impressively resilient until he was sent to the mat for the third time in the fight by a Ludwig right hand, which prompted the referee to stop the bout at the 3:37 mark of the third round.

Four and a half years ago, Bang was taken under the wing of mixed martial arts legend, Bas Rutten, who observed the young fighter's talent and fighting spirit during a muay thai kickboxing event in which Ludwig was competing. Soon after the two bonded, Ludwig made his first big mark in mixed martial arts by knocking out former UFC 155 pound limit champion, Jens "Little Evil" Pulver.

Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing, most exciting business opportunity in the world.

All interested potential sponsors are encouraged to contact Sven Bean, Ludwig's business manager at 303-246-5237 or via e-mail at

"BANG" Battles Daley at Strikeforce
5-22-2007, Denver, CO

Event date: June 22, 2007
HP Pavilion
San Jose, California

Superpowers will go head to head when K-1 and UFC veteran and Strikeforce fan favorite, Duane “Bang” Ludwig, faces EliteXC’s British Cage Rage champion, Paul “Semtex” Daley, in a 170-pound limit matchup during “Shamrock vs. Baroni,” live on June 22, at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The mega-MMA fight card, being co-produced by EliteXC and Strikeforce, will be headlined by the long-awaited showdown between former UFC middleweight king, Frank Shamrock, and UFC and Pride veteran, “The New York Badass” Phil Baroni, plus five other explosive bouts airing live on pay-per-view.

At stake during the fight between EliteXC’s Shamrock (strikeforceusa.net, frankshamrock.proelite.com) and Baroni (strikeforceusa.net, philbaroni.proelite.com) will be the vacant Strikeforce world middleweight (185-pound limit) championship.

The matchup between Ludwig (strikeforceusa.net, duaneludwig.proelite.com) and Daley (pauldaley.proelite.com) will be shown to viewers should there be a sufficient amount of time on the telecast following completion of three of the six scheduled Pay-Per-View card fights.

“It will be a tough fight for sure,” said the 28-year-old Ludwig of Denver, Colorado, also the reigning International Sport Karate Association (ISKA) World Junior Middleweight (154 lb. limit) Muay Thai Champion. “Both of us bring an action-packed fighting style to the cage so we match up in the crowd’s favor. It will probably be the fight of the night.”

During Strikeforce’s last card at the HP Pavilion on December 8th, Ludwig delivered a near flawless performance as he hammered away relentlessly with his hands and feet at Tony “The Freak” Fryklund (strikeforceusa.net, tonyfryklund.proelite.com). A former member of Team Pat Miletich, Fryklund was impressively resilient until he was sent to the mat for the third time in the fight by a Ludwig right hand, which prompted the referee to stop the bout at the 3:37 mark of the third round.

On January 16th of last year, Ludwig broke the all-time record for the quickest stoppage in mixed martial arts history when he finished Canada’s Jonathan Goulet (jonathangoulet.proelite.com) with a hard right hand at the 11-second mark of their meeting at UFC “Ultimate Fight Night 3” in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Five years ago, Bang was taken under the wing of mixed martial arts legend, Bas Rutten (basrutten.proelite.com), who observed the young prodigy’s talent and fiery spirit during a grassroots event in which Ludwig was competing. A year after the two bonded, Ludwig made his first major breakthrough in mixed martial arts by knocking out former UFC lightweight champion, Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (jenspulver.proelite.com).

Equally impressive as his mixed martial arts resume has been Ludwig’s ability to remain a force in the world of stand-up combat. After capturing the first ever, 159-pound limit K-1 tournament championship in North America by defeating two opponents in one evening, Ludwig proceeded to establish himself in K-1 competition in Japan and in 2004 secured the ISKA championship.

Ludwig’s kicking and punching skills will be put to the test by the 24-year-old Daley, also a superior striker who has never been knocked out over the course of 22 mixed martial arts fights and 15 Muay Thai-style bouts.

“I have a great chin. I’ve been pressed in fights to the point where other guys would’ve been knocked out, but I’ve been able to keep my composure and recover,” explained EliteXC’s Daley. “Duane has fast hands and he has knockout power, but I don’t think he’s displayed a good chin in some of his fights where he’s been hit and taken out – both in kickboxing and MMA. So, I think I have that up on him.”

While competing as a teen, Daley was given the nickname “Semtex,” after an explosive material that British armed forces use to demolish large structures. Daley’s followers likened the fighter’s unique ability to chop down much larger opponents to the destructive weapon.

Before earning his Cage Rage title last July with a decision victory over Ross Mason (rossmason.proelite.com), Daley scored a technical knockout on Peter Angerer (peterangerer.proelite.com) inside of one round to become the 170-pound champion of FX3, another prominent promotion in the United Kingdom.

Scheduled to hold a portion of his training camp in Holland, the No. 1 producer of K-1 heavyweight champions and the home of some of the world’s finest Muay Thai fighters, Daley will have the benefit of training alongside the likes of Muay Thai and mixed martial arts stars Melvin Manhoef (melvinmanhoef.proelite.com) and Badr Hari (badrhari.proelite.com), amongst others.

“Duane’s a great fighter with great skills and I admire him a lot,” said Daley. “I think I have the skills to beat him and I sure am going to beat him, but he has my respect.”

The live pay-per-view event will be distributed by SHOWTIME® PPV beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT with a suggested retail price of $34.95. For more information and to order “Shamrock vs. Baroni,” viewers should contact their pay-per-view provider. For more information on the free online broadcast of the four-fight undercard, visit www.ProElite.com or www.strikeforceusa.net.

Ticket prices for “Shamrock vs. Baroni” start at $30 and are on sale at Ticketmaster (408-998-TIXS) and Ticketmaster online (www.ticketmaster.com) as well as at the HP Pavilion box office (408-287-7070).

The mega-card will also feature the return of undefeated world San Shou kickboxing champion and middleweight mixed martial arts contender, Cung Le (strikeforceusa.net, cungle.proelite.com), who will face his greatest test to date in Tony “The Freak” Fryklund.

Strikeforce’s latest recruit, 2003 K-1 North America tournament champion, Carter Williams (strikeforceusa.net, carterwilliams.proelite.com), will meet hard-hitting Paul Buentello (strikeforceusa.net, paulbuentello.proelite.com) in a heavyweight matchup. In another top-notch bout, EliteXC’s Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett (krazyhorse.proelite.com), who is coming off a stunning, upset knockout victory over EliteXC’s KJ Noons (kjnoons.proelite.com), will take on Victor “Joe Boxer” Valenzuela (joeboxer.proelite.com).

EliteXC fighters, Joey Villasenor (joeyvillasenor.proelite.com) and former Pride star, Murilo “Ninja” Rua (murilorua.proelite.com), will lock horns for the vacant EliteXC middleweight title. On February 10th, Villasenor pulled off a shocking upset by outmaneuvering and, eventually earning a unanimous decision over EliteXC’s David “The Crow” Loiseau (thecrow.proelite.com). Villasenor’s career is highlighted by a 15 fight-winning streak put together between December 2002 and April 2006. A member of the famed Chute Boxe fight squad in Brazil, Rua was last seen in action on September 30th when he submitted British kickboxer Mark Weir (markweir.proelite.com), with an arm triangle choke in the second round of their meeting.

“Shamrock vs. Baroni” is co-produced by ProElite, Inc., the parent company of EliteXC, and Strikeforce.

RING OF FIRE - "AFTERSHOCK"

4-28-2007, Broomfield, CO

Doors open at 6:30 PM (MST)

Event starts at 7:30 PM (MST)

205 lb CHAMPIONSHIP (Eliot Marshall vs. Marcus Sursa):
Unlike in boxing where heavyweights reign supreme, in MMA the light heavyweight division is the most recognizable in the sport. In the seven years that RING OF FIRE has been on the circuit, the 205 belt has remained vacant. That will change on April 28 th. Top national grappler Eliot Marshall will look to add ROF Champion to his long list of credentials. The BJJ Black Belt is undefeated in MMA with a perfect 4-0 record. Following in many top fighter's footsteps, Marshall makes regular trips to New Mexico to train with Team Jackson's in Albuquerque. Also hoping to add the belt to his collection is Las Vegas based fighter Marcus Sursa. He has taken advantage of his location and trained with the top who' s who list of MMA fighters out there. The Jungle Fight Brazil veteran caught promoter Sven Bean's eye at the K-1 Tryouts over the last two years. Sursa finished at the top of the tryouts session and was offered fights but scheduling conflicts kept him off past ROF cards. He now gets his ROF appearance and it is against the promotion's #1 ranked fighter

205 lb SUPER FIGHT (Mike Nickels vs. Carpaccio Owens):
Mike Nickels returns to competition following his first round victory over Wes Combs at the Ultimate Fighter Season 3 Finale. Nickels finished the then undefeated fighter with a picture perfect rear naked choke. Already having local notoriety as one of the top tattoo artists, the Ultimate Fighter and UFC appearances elevated him to celebrity status. Nickels will be fighting in front of his hometown for the first time since September of 2005. His opponent, Carpaccio Owens last appeared at ROF 28 when he defeated K-1 veteran Andre Walker. He admitted that the altitude affected his performance, and plans to rectify that for ROF 29. The active duty Army Combatives champion will come to Colorado a week early to get acclimated. He will be staying at Fort Carson to train, and will be making appearances and promoting the event as well. He hopes to bring a few hundred new Army fans with him when he returns to ROF.

145 lb CHAMPIONSHIP (Christian Allen vs. Ryan Hass):
Also on April 28th, ROF Flyweight Champion Christian Allen will defend his belt. Allen's nickname RELENTLESS comes from his fighting style in the ring. He has the conditioning level to set an incredible pace of lightning quick stand up and rapid fire submission attempts. He became the ROF Champion in February of last year with a submission victory over Joe Doherty. A severe back injury kept him sidelined for the rest of 2006. He went through an extensive rehab and has been training non stop for his first title defense. Standing in his way will be Ryan Hass from Des Moines, Iowa. Hass lives, eats, and breaths MMA. Besides training full time as a professional fighter, he is also the co-promoter of Midwest Cage Fighting Championship with UFC veteran John Halverson. Hass is a fitness junkie, and spends most of his time split between working out in the gym and on the mat training MMA. While his ground game is his strong point he feels very comfortable on his feet. On paper this is one of the most even matches on the card. Height, weight, style , and record. But this is MMA and statistics mean nothing when the doors shuts. What matters is who wants the belt more.

155 lb FEATURE BOUT (Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Njokuani):
One of RING OF FIRE's most popular fighters is known to fans simply as the COWBOY. Donald Cerrone earned the nick name in high school after a short stint as a pro bull rider. He amassed an impressive 22-0- 1 in kickboxing before making the move to MMA. To date he has a perfect MMA record 5-0 record. None of his previous ROF opponents chose to "stand and bang", and the COWBOY finished them all by submission. His opponent at ROF 28 , also undefeated in MMA, may be the first to test those waters. Muay Thai stylist Anthony Njokuani hails from Dallas Texas. His trainer is the legendary 6 time World Muay Thai Champion Saekson Janjira. Njokuani stands 6'0 tall and is incredibly dangerous on his feet. He has a 7-0 record in MMA and is coming off 1st round head kick K.O. victory in March. This match has fight of the night written all over it.

155 lb FEATURE BOUT (Luke "Lil' HULK" Caudillo vs. Dennis “The Piranha” Davis):
Luke "Lil' HULK" Caudillo could be referred to as the gate keeper at 155 for RING OF FIRE. Since debuting for the promotion back in 2003, he has fought six times against some of the best lightweights in the region. He has recently moved to Denver and is training at Nathan Marquardt's High Altitude Gym. Caudillo is coming off a 3 fight win streak, highlighted by a 16 second K.O. in Canada's TKO organization. His opponent, Dennis “The Piranha” Davis is one of the nation's top an up and coming lightweights. He holds several titles and plans on continuing his dominance in the lightweight division. His accolades include a FCFF lightweight Champion, CFC lightweight Champion, and 4–time Sportfight lightweight Champion. Davis has a dangerous ground game and was originally trained by the world renowned Team Quest.

YOUNG GUNS CHAMPIONSHIP (Tyler THUNDER Toner vs. Scott Jorgensen):
Young Gun Champion Tyler THUNDER Toner will be defending his belt at ROF 29. The Brazilian Jiujitsu stylist is undefeated in MMA with a perfect 5-0 record. All but one of his fights have ended by TKO or submission in the first round. Toner has one punch knockout power, and very slick submission skills. Toner's opponent Scott Jorgensen wrestled in college for Boise State University. He is a 3 time PAC-10 champion and finished in the top twelve at the NCAA national tournament. Scott began his MMA career in 2006 and has put together a 4-1 record. He was also a training/sparring partner of World Champion Urijah Faber for his last fight.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH: CODY DONOVAN (Denver, CO) vs. BRETT KOBES (Sumner, WA)

LIGHT WEIGHT MATCH: JESSE HENLEY (Denver, CO) vs. JOSE AGUILAR (Las Cruces, NM)

WELTER WEIGHT MATCH: BRANDON THATCH (Aurora, CO) vs. JOSH KIRBY (Colo. Springs, CO)

PANCRASE NC - News

4-20-2007
Jacksonville, NC

Congrats to: Michael Rae, John Forbs, and Brian Dawson. The four of us traveled to Ruckus in the Cage in Abingdon, Va this weekend and had a blast.

John won his fight with a quick 20-30 second 1st round TKO. Throwing an unstoppable flurry of punches.

Michael and Brian had their fights go the distance. Michaels incredible cardio/endurance was no match for his fighter who laid on the canvas at he end of the fight and somehow the judges awarded the fight to the slightly conscience opponent.

Brian's fight was the fight of the night says Chris Smith (the Promoter), Matt Serra (UFC Champion) and myself! Absolutely incredible fight but in the end the judges gave it to his opponent.

Sensei James Wright won his match after going the distance. Just a side note: James was the oldest competitor there!

It was an honor to be there and an incredible experience fighting on the same card as some of my students and friends. An added bonus was being awarded my trophy by the lovely and beautiful super model Sabrina Sunday from right here in "Jville". Overall the experience was priceless. Adjectives do not describe the emotions I went through this weekend. Everything from humility and gratitude for the team that helps me train, to the staff, and everyone else that helps me live my dream day in and day out.

Sensei Wright thanks the following people:  Aaron Powel, for spiking my BJJ game. Brian Stann and George Lockheart, for allowing me to be their sparring partners/punching bag. Angela for taking care of business. Every student, parent, partner, for supporting the Carolina Martial Arts Team. If you aren't already, please come and be a part of our wonderful team here at Wright's Mixed Martial Arts Center!

ROF promoter Sven BOOGIE Bean is happy to announce the fight card for ROF 29: AFTERSHOCK. The 12 bout MMA event will take place on Saturday, April 28th 2007 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

The name AFTERSHOCK was appropriately chosen for the follow up to the record breaking February event. Over 5000 fans witnessed history that night as not only were attendance records broken, but for the first time a Colorado based promotion aired on a national broadcast.

On April 28th three Championship Belts will be on the line. Also for the first time in the seven year history of the promotion, all matches will take place in a cage instead of a ring.

205 lb CHAMPIONSHIP
He now gets his ROF appearance and it is against the promotion's #1 ranked fighter.

205 lb SUPER FIGHT
UFC veteran, BIG Mike Nickels returns to competition following his first round victory over Wes Combs at the Ultimate Fighter Season 3 Finale. His opponent, Carpaccio Owen last appeared at ROF 28 when he defeated K-1 veteran Andre Walker.

145 lb CHAMPIONSHIP

155 lb FEATURE BOUT

155 lb FEATURE BOUT

YOUNG GUNS CHAMPIONSHIP
