The martial arts community celebrates a monumental
achievement as Professor James Wright, a 5th Degree
Black Belt in Pancrase Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), has
been inducted into the prestigious United States
Marine Corps Boxing and Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
This honor recognizes his extraordinary
contributions to martial arts and his distinguished
service as a Marine Corps veteran, further cementing
his legacy as a pioneer in combat sports.
With a career spanning over
three decades, Professor Wright has become a
cornerstone of the martial arts world, particularly
within Pancrase USA MMA, where he has been a leading
figure for nearly 20 years. His promotion to 5th
Degree Black Belt in Pancrase MMA, announced on
January 1, 2023, underscores his mastery and
dedication to the discipline. This milestone follows
a series of promotions, including his 4th Degree
Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and previous
accolades in Pancrase MMA, reflecting his relentless
pursuit of excellence.
Professor Wright’s
expertise extends beyond Pancrase MMA. He holds a
6th Degree Black Belt in Fudozen Shorinji Kempo, a
2nd Degree in Go Ju Ryu, and 1st Dan rankings in
Goshin Jutsu Yudansha Kai, Shotokan, and Tae Kwon
Do. His credentials as a Black Belt Instructor in
Combative Arts include certifications as a Marine
Corps Line Training expert, Close Combat Instructor,
Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP) expert,
and Kru in Black Tiger Muay Thai. These
qualifications highlight his versatility and deep
knowledge across multiple martial arts disciplines.
A former Marine, Professor
Wright’s influence extended to his role as an
instructor and mentor at Martial Arts & More in
Jacksonville, NC. His innovative training methods
and commitment to fostering the next generation of
martial artists were recently highlighted in Martial
Arts Success magazine, which detailed his unique
business model tailored to his diverse student
population. His dedication to teaching spans from
white belt to black belt, covering disciplines such
as Kempo Karate (Wright’s Blend), Gracie Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu, Pancrase MMA, and boxing.
The United States Marine
Corps Boxing and Martial Arts Hall of Fame induction

Professor James Wright has recently achieved the
remarkable milestone of being promoted to the 5th
Degree Black Belt in Pancrase Mixed Martial Arts.
With a career spanning over three decades, Professor
Wright is a seasoned professional in the field of
martial arts, possessing extensive training,
coaching, and instructional experience. He has been
an influential figure in Pancrase MMA for close to
20 years, and his exceptional achievements were
recognized by his induction into the World Karate
Union Black Belt Hall of Fame.
Aside
from his latest accolade, Professor Wright holds
numerous other black belt degrees across a range of
martial arts. In mixed martial arts, he is a Black
Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. In
traditional martial arts, he has achieved a 6th
